After living in her Fort Worth home for 17 years, this single female homeowner wanted to do something special for her 50th birthday. She wanted one space that felt personal and completely her own. Somewhere she could relax, entertain, and make even more memories with the people she loves. An empty and unused formal dining room turned out to be the perfect opportunity. Instead of letting it go to waste, it became the foundation for a custom home speakeasy.
It All Started with a Favorite Color
Every design has a starting point. In this case, it was the homeowner's love for midnight blue. That rich and deep color helped set the mood for the entire room. From there, every design choice worked together to create a space that feels elegant, and just a little dramatic in the best way. Things like soft lighting, bold textures, luxurious finishes, and carefully selected furniture all play a role. Nothing feels random because every detail was chosen with the homeowner in mind.
Bringing the Vision to Life
Once the rich midnight blue was in place, everything else started to fall into place naturally. From there, we created a custom bar framed with botanical wallpaper to make a natural focal point for the room. A statement crystal chandelier added a touch of glamour, while plush velvet seating and bold patterned accent chairs made the space feel warm and inviting.
To give the speakeasy even more personality, we incorporated elements like curated artwork, brass accents, and vintage-inspired decor. Even the entryway became part of the experience with decorative wall art and a gramophone that sets the mood before you even step into the room. Together, these thoughtful additions transformed an overlooked space into one that feels memorable and made for gathering with family and friends.
